In every other production of The Music Man I’ve seen, these characters have been throw-away secondary characters. However, in this production they represented a younger parallel version of Harold and Marian as Marcellus flawlessly danced and schemed along a-la Harold Hill and Ethel, in a haze of love, his blissful accomplice."
